Whether you take an instructor-led class, an online course, or take advantage of our blended learning experience, which combines online coursework with instructor-led training, you'll learn from some of the best in the industry. Knowledgeable, understanding and able to deliver information suited to a wide range of learning styles, American Red Cross first aid instructors will help ensure that you not only understand the steps for performing first aid, but that you have the confidence and skills necessary to perform them correctly.

Performing First Aid
At the Red Cross, first aid training prepares you to provide care to children, adults, and pets during times of crisis. However, like many things, if you don't use your skills frequently, they're easy to forget. That's why, when you take our first aid certification classes, you'll also receive free online access to our first aid refreshers and a printable list of the basic steps for performing first aid. This way, you can practice your skills regularly, and keep reminders in the places you might need them most, like in the first aid kit in your car, home, or desk.

Just what I needed
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.QIZU3 years agoI'm required to stay up-to-date on certification in AED/CPR/FA for my job, and since my job wasn't allowed to do our normal in-person trainings this year due to COVID, we were all on our own. The online class followed by the 1-year provisional in-person class ended up being perfect for me. Everything I needed to review was covered, and in a way I could easily understand. The instructor for the in-person class was a little cranky at first, but it was early in the morning, so no judgement. He ... ended up covering everything we needed to know very professionally once we actually got started.

Great Class but Slightly Strange Format
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Nicole44813 years agoThe class was great and they fit a lot of information into a short amount of time. I felt a lot more confident in my knowledge and abilities after the class. My only issue with the class is that I took the Adult First Aid/CPR/AED class but the in-person skills class also included the children's section so I had to sit through some information that I wasn't getting certified for. It wasn't a big deal but it seems like they should have put that information at the end so those who didn't need that ... information could leave early.

Awesome training, tech could be improved
This reviewer rated product 4 out of 5 stars.sjsess3 weeks agoHusband and I attended the mixed virtual & in person version. Training felt thorough and clear. 4 stars because logging into Red Cross for the first time is a doom loop of frustration. Even my tech savvy husband struggled to figure it out.

Nice and informative
This reviewer rated product 4 out of 5 stars.MNPerson2 weeks agoSuper helpful and enjoyed the class. The only thing is that these classes can run long (past the scheduled time) so it is tough when you have meetings afterwards and need to rush to work. I know it is tough to stay on schedule and many of the people didn’t stay because they did not complete the online portion.

Really informative
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.MH283 years agoI did the adult and infant CPR/first aid/AED class. I was nervous to go because I have zero experience with any of those things. By the end of the class I had not only gained a lot of information but had practiced a lot of the skills and felt confident that I would be able to help in an emergency situation. The instructor also informed the class about an app that we can use to keep up on our skills which is also really helpful. Overall, I'm very happy that I went to the class.

Excellent Training
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.CB47583 years agoI very much enjoyed this class and appreciated the instructor's teaching style. I have previously been a CPR instructor and been CPR certified and I believe this is the most entertaining and informative class I have ever taken through the Red Cross. I also appreciate how much safety was emphasised during the class as we are still in a pandemic. The fact that the ARC as a whole and the instructor individually were clear about taking that seriously is something that I am very grateful for. It ... was a very good experience over all.

Good hybrid course, but allow for long online part
This reviewer rated product 4 out of 5 stars.foodsummercamp7 days agoThe at-home portion took a LOT longer than I had anticipated (4.5 hours!), but it was informative and helped me feel knowledgeable about a variety of potential crises and appropriate responses. I hadn't renewed my first aid certification in a number of years, so was grateful for the comprehensive refresher. The in-person portion was solid, and we completed the tasks for final certification.

Good Course
This reviewer rated product 4 out of 5 stars.UrbanFarm3 weeks agoThe instructor was REALLY good and thorough. He was the MOST thorough instructor I've had and I have done this course about 4 times. He stayed on track and didn't waste time. He explained things clearly and effectively, and he made sure everyone knew how to do the exercises before we were done. The website is a little tricky to navigate.

All encompassing
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Spurbie13373 weeks agoMy experience with the in person session was very informative. We went through an entire overview covering various emergency scenarios and medical conditions to ensure confidence in our ability to act as a first responder on the scene. The instructor was very polite and provided valuable information that went in depth and better explained what the videos were missing. Great teacher!

Excellent Adult First Aid/CPR/AED-R.21 training.
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Citadel of Hope4 weeks agoExcellent Adult First Aid/CPR/AED-R.21 training. Informative and helpful! Highly recommended! Not sure why the selection of five stars is not holding in each section. Chase Lawrence was well prepared did an excellent job of explaining each of the training segments and illustrating the procedures in each of the categories --- CPR, First Aid and AED.
