Knowledgeable, understanding and able to deliver information suited to a wide range of learning styles, American Red Cross first aid instructors will help ensure that you not only understand the steps for performing first aid, but that you have the confidence and skills necessary to perform them correctly.

Performing First Aid
At the Red Cross, first aid training prepares you to provide care to children, adults, and pets during times of crisis. However, like many things, if you don't use your skills frequently, they're easy to forget. That's why, when you take our first aid certification classes, you'll also receive free online access to our first aid refreshers and a printable list of the basic steps for performing first aid. This way, you can practice your skills regularly, and keep reminders in the places you might need them most, like in the first aid kit in your car, home, or desk.

First Aid/AED/CPR course
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars. One Eye Dog4 years agoMy husband and I recently attended the above course given by the Red Cross in St Petersburg, FL. Our instructor was terrific, articulate and extremely knowledgeable. He shared the information quickly in a manner that made time fly. Our day began at 9:00 am and ended at 3:00 p.m. including a lunch break. We had our certificates of completion before we even made it home! We also live on a power catamaran and cruise full time. Having the appropriate first aid tools are vital. We knew most ... of the information, but learned better techniques on how to apply our knowledge.

Just what I needed
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.QIZU4 years agoI'm required to stay up-to-date on certification in AED/CPR/FA for my job, and since my job wasn't allowed to do our normal in-person trainings this year due to COVID, we were all on our own. The online class followed by the 1-year provisional in-person class ended up being perfect for me. Everything I needed to review was covered, and in a way I could easily understand. The instructor for the in-person class was a little cranky at first, but it was early in the morning, so no judgement. He ... ended up covering everything we needed to know very professionally once we actually got started.

Excellent instructor
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Kristel4 years agoThis is my second time taking the Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED course. Of the two instructors I've had, this instructor, Melanie, was by far the best. She was engaging and interactive. She kept us entertaining and encouraged participation. She was open to question and answered them very well. I love that she provided her own experiences as well. Additionally, she provided a pretty good explanation of why certain steps are taken based on physiological principles. I have my PhD physiology ... and neuroscience, and the way she explained why processes are implemented in a certain way really helped us remember the content.

Excellent Training
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.CB47583 years agoI very much enjoyed this class and appreciated the instructor's teaching style. I have previously been a CPR instructor and been CPR certified and I believe this is the most entertaining and informative class I have ever taken through the Red Cross. I also appreciate how much safety was emphasised during the class as we are still in a pandemic. The fact that the ARC as a whole and the instructor individually were clear about taking that seriously is something that I am very grateful for. It ... was a very good experience over all.

Really good thing to do - great experience.
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Towanda4 weeks agoThis is the second time I’ve taken the CPR/AED class in Topsham with the same instructor. He does a great job of providing additional first hand experience guidance in a chatty, accessible fashion. We’ll done.

Happy overall
This reviewer rated product 4 out of 5 stars.PulmIDCPR4 weeks agoMy instructor didn’t introduce himself or have any of us introduce ourselves to him. Backward start to the class but I learned a lot and was happy overall with my training. He was very knowledgeable, just not very personable.

This reviewer rated product 4 out of 5 stars.Hoolie3 weeks agoThis was a helpful and efficiant class overall. I just usually don’t give 5 stars to anyone. It got me to focus and pay attention and this is what I need in this hectic world. I would like to make this a yearly event. I’m trying to renter the workforce, possibly taking classes. So this was an excellent start to see how nervous I might be! Thank you so much Salvation Army.

Highly reccommend
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.MNlakesgirl892 weeks agoI was very happy to do a hybrid class. This is the 5th time that I've certified for First Aid / CPR/ AED for adults and pediatrics, including certifying as a lifeguard twice. Needless to say, I've gone over the material many times previously. I was able to review, learn what has changed, and practice my rusty skills. Even with the Red Cross facility dealing with a state of emergency, by supporting nearby counties dealing with storms, we had plenty of room and time.

Incredibly Valuable Class
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.EEKJeep4 weeks agoExcellent, thorough class on essential skills. Quality instruction and great opportunity to practice skills while being evaluated by a professional. I like that the class has been divided into online and in-person sections now. It's much easier to fit into busy schedules this way and it's more enjoyable to do the knowledge section at your own pace. I also like the preassessment questions that allow for testing out of portions of the test--much appreciated for people who recertify often!
