- Primary assessment
- Ventilations (incl. use of CPR breathing barriers and use of BVMs)

This comprehensive training gives professional responders the knowledge and skills necessary to work as an emergency medical responder until more advanced medical personnel take over. Hands-on, scenario-based training exceeds EMS Educational Standards and is approved by the Red Cross Scientific Advisory Council. Topics include:
- Assessments
- Airway and ventilation
- CPR and AED
- Medical and trauma emergencies
- EMS operations
This training module is designed for workers at risk for on-the-job exposure to blood or other body fluids that could cause infection.
Course length: 2 hours; 1 year certification; classroom and web-based learning options available
Teaches professional rescuers when and how to use emergency oxygen and breathing devices, includes airway management as an enrichment topic.
Prerequisites: Current adult, child or infant CPR certification Course length: 1 hour, 40 minutes (1 hour, 5 minutes when taught with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers)
2 year certification
