GreenDrop, the organization offering clean, brightly lit, and safe donation centers and reliable pick-up services, has added the American Red Cross as one of its partner charities. The partnership allows donors to support the critical mission of the Red Cross by donating their clothing and household items.
“When I envisioned the concept for GreenDrop, I drew a rough sketch of what I wanted our donation centers to be, which included the American Red Cross’ logo among our existing partner charities,” says GreenDrop Founder and Chairman Chris Stinnett.
Since 2012, GreenDrop has provided the means to donate items in a way that is good for the environment, good for charities, and good for communities. Its free-standing locations are largely abandoned gas stations and convenience stores that have been converted into collection centers. At each center, a uniformed GreenDrop attendant unloads and processes donations. In addition to its charitable collection centers, GreenDrop also offers a home pickup service allowing donors to contribute conveniently without leaving their homes.
Each donor has the opportunity to choose which of GreenDrop’s partner charities their donation will benefit: the National Federation of the Blind; the Military Order of the Purple Heart; the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Philadelphia (within the Greater Philadelphia area) and now, the American Red Cross. The donor is then given a tax-deductible receipt.
In addition to accepting donations of gently used household goods on behalf of the Red Cross daily, GreenDrop will also host special events to benefit its lifesaving services, including blood drives.
“Since inception, the American Red Cross has been a goal of our organization,” says Stinnett. “And I am so proud that today it is a reality.”
GreenDrop donors recently served the Red Cross through their donations at each of GreenDrop’s 27 centers to benefit Louisiana flooding victims. To find your local GreenDrop, please visit https://www.gogreendrop.com/find-a-location; https://www.gogreendrop.com/redcross or dial 1-888-944-3767
