After completing your classroom training, you'll gain hands-on experience by working directly with patients in a healthcare facility during your clinical rotations. All rotations are supervised by a Licensed Nurse, who is also licensed by the state as a Nurse Assistant Training Instructor, who can give you the guidance you need to succeed.

However, because California CNA certification is granted by the state, you must also pass the exam (written and skills) prior to working as a CNA.
In order to become a licensed certified nursing assistant, you must receive fingerprint clearance from the Department of Justice (DOJ) prior to registering for California CNA training classes with the American Red Cross. In addition, you must pass written and skills exams after your coursework is complete. In some cases these exams, as well as practice exams, may be taken at your local Red Cross CNA test facility.
