The primary purpose of the American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED program is to help participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies. The courses in this program teach participants the knowledge and skills needed to give immediate care to an injured or ill person and to decide whether advanced medical care is needed. This program offers a choice of first aid, CPR and AED courses to meet the various training needs of a diverse audience. The care steps in the program are consistent with the 2015 International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) Consensus on Science and Treatment Recommendations for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) and the 2015 American Heart Association and American Red Cross Guidelines for CPR and First Aid.

Rated 4 out of 5 by JoeNEPA from Every household should have a copy I bought this prior to taking a Red Cross class, and while reading, realized that it would be a good book for families just to have at home for emergency reference.

Rated 3 out of 5 by tonie from Not what I had expected I wanted a simple plain CPR/AED and choking review. It was more of first aid emergencies. I can understand care of a bleeding wound but it was more information that my colleagues need in the area of children and First Aid.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Pak58 from Lots of Information You don't need to purchase this book for the class. It is however a good idea especially if you have a family. It has a lot of First Aid scenarios as well as CPR in it.
