Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS) Instructor’s Manual

The Neonatal Advanced Life Support Instructor's Manual provides all the information necessary to help instructors plan, prepare for, and conduct the Neonatal Advanced Life Support Blended Learning courses. The Neonatal Advanced Life Support Instructor’s Manual is required to conduct both the Neonatal Advanced Life Support Blended Learning Foundations and Comprehensive courses.

The manual is divided into four sections:

• Section A: Program Administration
• Section B: Course Outlines and Sample Agendas
• Section C: Lessons and Skill Stations
• Section D: Appendices

The Neonatal Advanced Life Support Instructor’s Manual includes lesson plans for all required lessons that must be conducted as part of the in-person skills session for the foundations and comprehensive courses, as well as lesson plans for optional lessons that the instructor may conduct at their discretion, depending on participant needs and backgrounds.

The content in the American Red Cross Neonatal Advanced Life Support program is consistent with the Consensus on Science with Treatment Recommendations (CoSTR) of the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR), the American Red Cross Neonatal Advanced Life Support Healthcare Guidelines as developed by the American Red Cross Scientific Advisory Council, AWHONN and the guidelines of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Heart Association.
