The updated Basic Life Support (BLS) program from the Red Cross supports emergency response and patient care and is taken by millions across healthcare organizations, EMS agencies and the Military Training Network. This evidence-based course builds critical skills through scenario-based training and covers CPR, AED use and breathing emergencies for adults, children and infants. The course offers certification and may be eligible for Continuing Education (CE) credit.
BLS training is available in multiple formats, giving you the flexibility to complete certification in a way that fits your needs.
The American Red Cross offers BLS training for individuals and teams, and courses that are held entirely in person, or through our blended Simulation Learning experience, which combines online classwork with in-person skills sessions. For BLS providers, when emergencies arise, it's your job to be able to provide care to whomever is in need. And because skills can be lost if they're not used regularly, we also offer refresher materials and a printout of some basic BLS steps that can help you stay sharp between calls.
