Taking a BLS Class

Basic Life Support Training
The American Red Cross offers BLS training for individuals and teams, and courses that are held entirely in person, or through our blended Simulation Learning experience, which combines online classwork with in-person skills sessions. This way, you can learn on your schedule - and in the way that suits you best. Regardless of which type of course you choose, you'll receive instruction from world-class professionals, as well as science-based information that includes the latest protocols, so you can deliver care to those in need and help improve patient outcomes.

Providing BLS Care
For BLS providers, when emergencies arise, it's your job to be able to provide care to whomever is in need. That's why Red Cross BLS classes cover best practices for delivering care to infants, children and adults. And because skills can be lost if they're not used regularly, we also offer refresher materials and a printout of some basic BLS steps that can help you stay sharp between calls.

BLS Class
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Hailey C4 years agoThe in-person class was the best part about the course. Keith Lorenz is not only knowledgeable and friendly - he gave us real life examples, experiences of his that made the problem-solving and critical thinking portion of our demonstrations understandable. You can also tell when someone is passionate about their work and their teaching. Keith exemplifies this. I can't say enough about Keith - I have taken many CPR courses over the years, but didn't feel as confident about it as I do now. Thank you.

Quick, informative, and fun!
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Alex21824 years agoMy instructor Christopher was great. He figured out what everyone’s levels of knowledge were and helped everyone individually improve their skills. I am happy to take this class and stay up to date on the new techniques since my last course. He was also very helpful over email when I had a question. I did 1/2 online 1/2 in person. I liked doing the lecture part online because I think I paid better attention to everything. Overall I would definitely recommend this course! They also provide a AHA ... tester if you need both (it costs extra).

Great videos and useful information
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Chrisintheburg1 month agoI found the information very helpful. I especially liked the videos that developed a “critical eye”. It was very helpful to learn good communication techniques when correcting skills.

Training fine - enrollment needs streamlining
This reviewer rated product 4 out of 5 stars.Justadwater2 days agoThe training itself was fine. The process of getting to it needs streamlining. The Red Cross already has certification information in its system. It seems there should not be a separate step for enrollees to have to upload credentials for approval.

Very Engaging + Informative
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.cnastudent1 month agoI have been working as a Certified Nursing Assistant for nearly 3.5 years now in long-term care, but looking to move into the hospital setting often requires a BLS certification. I was able to book this class, then take both the learning and demonstrative portions in-person in the same day. The instructor made things interesting and didn't make the class feel super daunting and strung out. The group demonstrations were engaging as it helped gain a better sense of what things are like in a ... real-life emergency. I would absolutely recommend.

Good show
This reviewer rated product 4 out of 5 stars.roselani1 month agoThe online certification was very long and comprehensive. I wish there was a playback feature where i could 1.5x or even 2x the speed. The in-person certification was fine, but I think there needs to be a higher teacher to student ratio. My class had 1 teacher to 12 students, but I think it would greatly help if there was a teaching assistant or something of the like. This is a personal problem, but I would also like to be pointed to classes that I could take for extra practice although I’m ... certified already.

BLS CPR course
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Pacinurse1 week agoGreat class aligning the CPR concepts and reinforcing the chain of survival. My only criticism is I would have appreciated recieving a participants manual. The instructor lead skills portion was the best part of the course. Our instructor was tuned into the participants strengths and weaknesses and took the time to ensure all questions were answered. Also finding the Dedham facility was difficult because GPS brings you to the warehouse address instead of the main building further down the road. ... Concider putting a sign at the warehouse driveway; If here for CPR etc continue 1/4 mile down main road...
