Taking a BLS Class
Basic Life Support Training
The American Red Cross offers BLS training for individuals and teams, and courses that are held entirely in person, or through our blended Simulation Learning experience, which combines online classwork with in-person skills sessions. This way, you can learn on your schedule - and in the way that suits you best. Regardless of which type of course you choose, you'll receive instruction from world-class professionals, as well as science-based information that includes the latest protocols, so you can deliver care to those in need and help improve patient outcomes.
Providing BLS Care
For BLS providers, when emergencies arise, it's your job to be able to provide care to whomever is in need. That's why Red Cross BLS classes cover best practices for delivering care to infants, children and adults. And because skills can be lost if they're not used regularly, we also offer refresher materials and a printout of some basic BLS steps that can help you stay sharp between calls.

Positive Experience Despite the Reviews
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Anonymous4 days agoI’m not sure if my instructor is the same person mentioned in the negative reviews, but I had a good experience overall. He was very accommodating and informative. I’m a person of color, and so is another student in the class. There was a bit of a language barrier, but he really tried his best to help. Some people probably thought he's mean because he has a loud voice while telling us what to do, but to me, that actually helped me stay focused, especially since I’m a bit hard of hearing. He made ... sure that we knew what we were doing and deserving of the certification.

My instructor was THEEBOMB.COM!!!!! From the moment we introduced ourselves he was very engaged to learn about us and what we do. He quizzed us as we demonstrated our skills and still kept us engaged during the lesson. I feel his training gave me the knowledge and confidence to be able to save someone’s life…thank you.

I loved how the instructor stopped and spent more time on the important points. I the only downside is, I assume due to how short the class, that the not so ‘important’ point were ran through quickly. Besides that, hats off to the instructor!

BLS Education and Training
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.SNM12 months agoIt was time for me to renew my BLS Certification, so I contacted The Amercian Red Cross to enroll in a class. The instructor that was assigned to our class was absolutely outstanding. He was meticulous in explaining the "why's and what for's" in every aspect of this course as well as continual reinforcement of the principles. He was an expert in engaging with the class, assessing the individual abilities of the students and then coaching them to ultimate success. In short, a master educator and ... trainer! This was a fantastic class!

Quick, informative, and fun!

He figured out what everyone’s levels of knowledge were and helped everyone individually improve their skills. I am happy to take this class and stay up to date on the new techniques since my last course. He was also very helpful over email when I had a question. I did 1/2 online 1/2 in person. I liked doing the lecture part online because I think I paid better attention to everything. Overall I would definitely recommend this course! They also provide a AHA ... tester if you need both (it costs extra).

Good Quality but Unnecessarily Long
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.VaEMT4 years agoThe course was good quality and the instructor was thorough, but the slides and videos during the in-person portion took longer than I believe that they should've. I may have just been impatient because I've taken the course before and I was only recertifying, so take my review with a grain of salt. Even with that accounted for, I still think that the information in the slides could have been condensed down into a more efficient presentation. Otherwise, it was a good course with a decent ... amount of hands-on work with adult/infant dummies. The instructor was very polite and I believe that she is competent in the subject matter.

Training fine - enrollment needs streamlining

The Red Cross already has certification information in its system. It seems there should not be a separate step for enrollees to have to upload credentials for approval.
