Taking a BLS Class

Basic Life Support Training
The American Red Cross offers BLS training for individuals and teams, and courses that are held entirely in person, or through our blended Simulation Learning experience, which combines online classwork with in-person skills sessions. This way, you can learn on your schedule - and in the way that suits you best. Regardless of which type of course you choose, you'll receive instruction from world-class professionals, as well as science-based information that includes the latest protocols, so you can deliver care to those in need and help improve patient outcomes.

Providing BLS Care
For BLS providers, when emergencies arise, it's your job to be able to provide care to whomever is in need. That's why Red Cross BLS classes cover best practices for delivering care to infants, children and adults. And because skills can be lost if they're not used regularly, we also offer refresher materials and a printout of some basic BLS steps that can help you stay sharp between calls.

BLS class
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Billiee1 month agoI recently took the BLS class as I needed it for nursing school and it went well beyond my expectations. Etty (sorry for the spelling, definitely not how he spells his name) was amazing. He was funny and his positive uplifting attitude made it easier to learn. I would recommend this class to everyone and I will be returning when it is time to renew my BLS.

BLS CPR course
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Pacinurse2 weeks agoGreat class aligning the CPR concepts and reinforcing the chain of survival. My only criticism is I would have appreciated recieving a participants manual. The instructor lead skills portion was the best part of the course. Our instructor was tuned into the participants strengths and weaknesses and took the time to ensure all questions were answered. Also finding the Dedham facility was difficult because GPS brings you to the warehouse address instead of the main building further down the road. ... Concider putting a sign at the warehouse driveway; If here for CPR etc continue 1/4 mile down main road...

Positive Experience Despite the Reviews
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Anonymous1 week agoI’m not sure if my instructor is the same person mentioned in the negative reviews, but I had a good experience overall. He was very accommodating and informative. I’m a person of color, and so is another student in the class. There was a bit of a language barrier, but he really tried his best to help. Some people probably thought he's mean because he has a loud voice while telling us what to do, but to me, that actually helped me stay focused, especially since I’m a bit hard of hearing. He made ... sure that we knew what we were doing and deserving of the certification.

BLS Class
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Hailey C4 years agoThe in-person class was the best part about the course. Keith Lorenz is not only knowledgeable and friendly - he gave us real life examples, experiences of his that made the problem-solving and critical thinking portion of our demonstrations understandable. You can also tell when someone is passionate about their work and their teaching. Keith exemplifies this. I can't say enough about Keith - I have taken many CPR courses over the years, but didn't feel as confident about it as I do now. Thank you.

Good Quality but Unnecessarily Long
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.VaEMT4 years agoThe course was good quality and the instructor was thorough, but the slides and videos during the in-person portion took longer than I believe that they should've. I may have just been impatient because I've taken the course before and I was only recertifying, so take my review with a grain of salt. Even with that accounted for, I still think that the information in the slides could have been condensed down into a more efficient presentation. Otherwise, it was a good course with a decent ... amount of hands-on work with adult/infant dummies. The instructor was very polite and I believe that she is competent in the subject matter.

Training fine - enrollment needs streamlining
This reviewer rated product 4 out of 5 stars.Justadwater1 week agoThe training itself was fine. The process of getting to it needs streamlining. The Red Cross already has certification information in its system. It seems there should not be a separate step for enrollees to have to upload credentials for approval.
