Knowledgeable, understanding and able to deliver information suited to a wide range of learning styles, American Red Cross first aid instructors will help ensure that you not only understand the steps for performing first aid, but that you have the confidence and skills necessary to perform them correctly.

Performing First Aid
At the Red Cross, first aid training prepares you to provide care to children, adults, and pets during times of crisis. However, like many things, if you don't use your skills frequently, they're easy to forget. That's why, when you take our first aid certification classes, you'll also receive free online access to our first aid refreshers and a printable list of the basic steps for performing first aid. This way, you can practice your skills regularly, and keep reminders in the places you might need them most, like in the first aid kit in your car, home, or desk.

Educational and worthwhile!
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.ChelseaM2 weeks agoI thought the classes were well planned and a good use of time. They tested your knowledge on the course material in an effective way (i.e., active recall, giving real life applications, etc). The instructor we had (so sad I forgot his name) was also very patient, always opened the floor for questions, and gave each participant individual attention to make sure their skills were sufficient. Overall I am very happy with my experience with this course!

I was so nervous about attending a class with strangers. The instructor was very funny and knew how to break the ice. It was a comfortable environment to refresh what I learned and add to that information. He did not just read straight from the powerpoint, he walked and talked us through everything. He showed us how to properly perform CPR instead of just telling us. If I take another class, I really hope I get him again. He knows how to engage his students and capture our attention.

Excellent instructor
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Kristel4 years agoThis is my second time taking the Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED course. Of the two instructors I've had, this instructor, Melanie, was by far the best. She was engaging and interactive. She kept us entertaining and encouraged participation. She was open to question and answered them very well. I love that she provided her own experiences as well. Additionally, she provided a pretty good explanation of why certain steps are taken based on physiological principles. I have my PhD physiology ... and neuroscience, and the way she explained why processes are implemented in a certain way really helped us remember the content.

Excellent Training
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.CB47583 years agoI very much enjoyed this class and appreciated the instructor's teaching style. I have previously been a CPR instructor and been CPR certified and I believe this is the most entertaining and informative class I have ever taken through the Red Cross. I also appreciate how much safety was emphasised during the class as we are still in a pandemic. The fact that the ARC as a whole and the instructor individually were clear about taking that seriously is something that I am very grateful for. It ... was a very good experience over all.

Just what I needed
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.QIZU4 years agoI'm required to stay up-to-date on certification in AED/CPR/FA for my job, and since my job wasn't allowed to do our normal in-person trainings this year due to COVID, we were all on our own. The online class followed by the 1-year provisional in-person class ended up being perfect for me. Everything I needed to review was covered, and in a way I could easily understand. The instructor for the in-person class was a little cranky at first, but it was early in the morning, so no judgement. He ... ended up covering everything we needed to know very professionally once we actually got started.

Happy to recommend
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.gifflinda4 years agoI had originally registered for an in-person class that was ultimately canceled. In order to recertify in time, I registered for the online class. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was impressed. The "Missions" were well done, and I was able to watch them a second time for reinforcement. I then went for my in-person skills testing. My instructor was great. She reviewed the highlights and ran us through a practice run before we tested. I am happy to recommend this class.

Good experience
This reviewer rated product 4 out of 5 stars.Dani K3 days agoOur instructor was wonderful, very engaging, and had a lot of good energy. I had a hard time understanding her due to her accent, and that makes it hard when you're trying to learn a new skill. Instead of '8 years old and 65 pounds', she would say, '8 years old and 65 pines.' There were words that took me a while to figure out what she was trying to say, and that was a lag in my training.

This reviewer rated product 4 out of 5 stars.Hoolie1 month agoThis was a helpful and efficiant class overall. I just usually don’t give 5 stars to anyone. It got me to focus and pay attention and this is what I need in this hectic world. I would like to make this a yearly event. I’m trying to renter the workforce, possibly taking classes. So this was an excellent start to see how nervous I might be! Thank you so much Salvation Army.
