• Who Should Carry Naloxone?

    Date Published: June 8, 2026

Ready to learn something that could potentially save a life? Dr. Nathan Charlton, a member of the Red Cross Scientific Advisory Council, suggests everyone should carry Naloxone in their first aid kits.

Who should keep naloxone in their first aid kit?

“Certainly, anyone with an at-risk population, absolutely. But I think anyone should. I carry it around. I think it’s good to have it. I work in a hospital setting but have come across individuals on the hospital campus that have an opioid toxidrome [a toxic syndrome]. And therefore, I think it’s good for anyone to have it. It’s something we can use to save a life.” — Dr. Nathan Charlton, Red Cross Scientific Advisory Council
