Practicing CPR on male and female CPR manikins is crucial because the more realistic CPR training is, the better rescuers can respond in a cardiac emergency. In the workplace, at home, or in the field, rescuers need to be capable and confident in giving CPR to anybody and to any body.

Teaching CPR with male and female CPR manikins may also help address the gender disparity in bystander CPR rates. Studies show that only 39% of women receive CPR from bystanders in public, compared to 45% of men. This gap can be attributed to several factors, including discomfort or uncertainty about performing CPR on women, especially concerning chest compressions.

Using female and male CPR manikins helps normalize the practice of giving CPR to women and men, while reducing hesitation, and increasing confidence among rescuers. It also trains students to be familiar with the anatomical differences of different body types, such as breast tissue, which can affect hand placement, compression depth and AED pad placement.

This instructor starter set also includes 4 of the new American Red Cross AED Trainers, powered by Prestan. These AED training devices are designed with pre-connected pads that detect pad placement, automatic and semi-automatic shock settings, adult/child button, metronome with on/off mode, 5 AED training scenarios, English/Spanish voice prompts, and a 3-year warranty.
