    FAQs

    Can BLS be taken online?

BLS training requires an in-person session to assess your hands-on skills. Some programs let you review BLS concepts online, but you still need to practice and test in-person to complete your certification.

Are BLS and CPR the same thing?

CPR training teaches the essential skills needed to recognize a cardiac emergency and provide care until advanced medical help arrives. BLS (Basic Life Support) is a more advanced certification designed for healthcare professionals and first responders that includes CPR skills as well as additional training for breathing emergencies, obstructed airways and team-based response scenarios.

Who Should Take a BLS Course?

BLS training is designed for healthcare clinicians and other responders who may need to recognize and respond to cardiac arrest, respiratory emergencies and obstructed airways. This may include nurses, doctors, EMTs, dental staff, medical assistants and other clinical team members.

    What does BLS certified mean?

Being BLS certified means you have successfully completed Basic Life Support training and demonstrated the skills needed to respond to cardiac arrest, breathing emergencies, and airway obstructions. BLS certification is designed for healthcare professionals and other trained responders who may be responsible for providing care in both individual and team-based emergency situations.

How Do I Get a BLS Certificate?

To earn a BLS certificate, take a Basic Life Support course from an approved provider such as the American Red Cross. The course includes hands-on practice and a final test to show you can perform CPR, use an AED and work as part of a team. Once you pass, you will receive a digital certificate.

Can I Renew My BLS Certification Online?
