First Aid, Health and Safety for Coaches - Online Course

Details
Class ID 01977360

This course, developed by the American Red Cross and the National Federation of State High School Associations, gives students an overview of first aid and 'best practices' for many first aid situations encountered by coaches. Students learn skills related to athletic injuries that may also be useful for injuries to officials, fellow coaches or spectators. Topics include: Checking an Unconscious Athlete; Asthma; Sudden Illness; Heat Related Illnesses; Wounds; Injuries to the Head, Neck and Spine; Psychological and Mental Health Problems. Students who score at least 80% on the course assessment may print a record of completion. Because CPR and AED require separate training for certification, these topics are not part of this course. Students are encouraged to register for the American Red Cross CPR/AED course as a complement to this course. For optimal viewing of the course, please use: Chrome 12 or higher, Firefox 10 or higher, IE9 or higher, or Safari 4 or higher.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Screen Shot your work!! I started my work on my desktop at work. I was halfway through the class. I went home to finish and I was on my iPad. It didn't save. I started from the beginning on my iPad and luckily took screen shots of my progress throughout the entire class. I didn't get my certificate and they had no record that I took the class at all in their system. I tried calling customer support and could never get a real person. I used the live chat and they told me to call customer support. I finally was able to get ahold of someone. They said without the screenshots I would not get my certificate. Thankfully I was able to send them the screenshots and after 4 days of waiting they released my certificate.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Problems with website-class long The class takes a significant amount of time, and if you have taken it, you should be able to do a modified version. Everything is common sense. For some reason this course has problems with you receiving your certificate. My daughter took it in Jan and did not get her certificate so she had to retake it. That was a lot of time wasted. I could not print my certificate and it did not show up on my page, so I had to call and have them go into my account and email me my certificate. It should not be this hard to print a certificate.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Materials okay. Did not save my course location After 2.33 hrs on the course, when I was half way through, I turned off my computer and it turns out, it didn't save my progress. I did not see a save button so I thought it would automatically save. When I tried to log back on, the site said that I completed the course! What??? I called Red Cross and either start the course over or keep my cert. Scary. I would not recommend on line learning from this website. Do it in person.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy and Convenient The course was convenient and easy to navigate. The content was well organized. It was simple and straight-forward so it was very easy to quickly learn the important points. The only complaint was that sometimes slides auto-advanced a little too quickly. I was trying to take notes and the slide would advance before I was ready. I could also go to previous so not a huge deal but it would be nice to have manual control over slide advancement for additional or less time given to a particular slide as needed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thank you Thank for so much allowing this online process to occur. Many people cannot make it out to your physical sessions, so having an alternative is great job on your part

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Over and over and over I had to retake this class 3 times because the certificate did not email or show up in the "transcripts" section on the website. Completely ridiculous

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good information, slow moving course I took this to meet a job requirement. It was convenient taking it at home and on my own time, but the videos went really slowly and I wish I could have just read the information/transcript rather than have to wait for the video to finish.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Wrong class, same monotony Turns out I needed a different class, names almost identical, same price... Class was like so many other certifications and courses I've taken through red cross. Its all the same info just rearranged with a new label on it.
