So, imagine if no one was trained in the organization, and someone were to collapse; what would you do?
It's important for companies to think about a safety plan because anything could happen at any time.
Certainly, you want to have a plan that's really easy and simple to use.
- Use simple terms.
- Don't use codes and secret messages.
- We want to make sure we have equipment labeled appropriately.
- Note the locations of your first aid kits, really really important.
- Another tip would be to provide the training needed for the incidents that arise in the workplace. This includes providing CPR training, first aid training, training on how to properly use an AED, and how to properly deal with bloodborne pathogens.
So it's a continuous process of ensuring safety within the organization, from the training perspective, from the equipment perspective, as well as you want to make sure you update your plan.
Every time you make a change in the organization, you want to come back and look at that plan and see what needs to be updated.
Creating a culture of safety really helps the workers feel more invested in the workplace, as they feel that the company is investing in them and investing in their safety.
