BLS Certification in Knoxville
Whether you're training to become a first responder or you're already a medical professional, our Knoxville BLS certification classes can help you gain the skills and knowledge you need to provide care during times of crisis. Taught by local experts in the industry who understand the challenges your community faces, our BLS classes can help you learn how to deliver basic life support in a wide range of scenarios.
In Knoxville, BLS certification classes from the American Red Cross are available in two formats: in person, and via our blended Simulation Learning experience. In-person classes are held in a traditional classroom setting – with an instructor and classmates, and the hands-on skills session immediately follows. Simulation Learning, however, allows you to receive the same "lecture" material, but in an online environment – so you can spend time with the information and synthesize it in your own way. Once complete, you can schedule your in-person skills session, where you'll learn proper techniques and have the opportunity to prove your skills to a licensed instructor. After successfully completing both sections of the course, you'll receive full certification. For more information or to book your BLS class, check our newest schedule.
At the Red Cross we offer world-class training and science based courses that can help you stay at the forefront of your field. But no student can synthesize the information provided in class without a little effort on their part – which is why we encourage you to engage in practices that can help ensure your success. For instance, when you take notes, and participate in class discussions, information is reinforced. And when you practice your skills with others, you can improve your skills based on what others observe, and you'll have the chance to see how other people perform the same skills – which can help deepen your understanding of the information learned in class. Of course, throughout your BLS training in Knoxville, your instructor will be available to answer any questions you may have and can explain concepts in a variety of ways, so don't be shy – it's one of the reasons they're there. Regardless of what you need, we'll do our best to help – and we wish you success in this and all of your future endeavors.
Whether you have a career in mind or just want to keep your options open, after completing your BLS training in Knoxville, a number of professional "doors" will open to you. And although some of the fields listed here may require additional training or certifications, your BLS credentials will allow you to explore your options and find the path that suits you best. Just a few of the careers that typically require a BLS certification include: first responders (firefighter, police officer, EMT, and paramedic), doctor, nurse, Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), medical assistant, dentist, personal trainer, childcare provider, etc. Career paths and requirements do vary by state, and in some cases even by county, city or organization, so if you're interested in a career that requires BLS training, it's always best to research the field and the requirements before enrolling in any class.
If your BLS credentials are currently valid, or within 30 days of expiring, you can enroll in one of our Knoxville BLS renewal classes and, after successful completion, extend your certification by two years. All of our renewal courses are abbreviated (when compared to our initial certification courses), and give you the latest information on providing patient care that can improve outcomes. With science-based information and world-class instructors, a lecture and skills session, you can update your knowledge, improve your skills, and continue helping those in need.
